NOTE: I wrote this on the evening of September 28, 2018 – prior to us dropping Joseph off for his transfer. The evening was much more heart-wrenching than I anticipated. I have more to say about fostering, Joseph, and other animals like him but, for now, this is all I can manage.
No one ever claimed the scared brown and white pup we found wandering our neighborhood in late July. He was not chipped and, after no responses came to the many ads we posted, we concluded he was also not wanted.
These days, we call him Joseph. He has been with us since I first posted his “FOUND” notices; however, with help from local animal rescue volunteers, he is leaving us tonight to be transferred to a no kill shelter. He has been given a clean bill of health and we had him neutered and vaccinated. The vet estimates he is between 10-12 months old. He has a sweet, though very energetic disposition. (He is definitely all puppy and is quite the digger.)
We pray Joseph finds an awesome, loving home and that the remainder of his life will prove much happier than the beginning of it. We are so grateful to everyone who shared his information and to the many volunteers who helped us and who continue to tackle what is a tragic epidemic of animal abandonment in our city.
